CONTENT / NGSS?
Discovering Life Science is not a "science program." It is both a textbook of basic content and a resource book.
While it includes complete coverage of life science content, a primary purpose of the book is to support the teaching of outlining. Free handwritten "model" outlines of the book's 72 very brief lessons are provided as pdf documents. (Please see the menu items TEACHING OUTLINING and CONTENTS).
With its very brief, concisely-written and heavily-illustrated lessons, I found the book's forerunner to be well-suited to my other goal - to challenge students to teach themselves a good portion of the basic content. This approach freed up more class time for hands-on activities.
I've elaborated on the above under the menu item
WHY THIS BOOK? --- > RATIONALE AND STRATEGIES.
